Wonky Sketches are Good for You

Wonky Sketches are Good for You

There are a couple really freeing exercises that I go-to for some art therapy sessions when I need to get out of my head, jam out to some tunes and challenge my ego. Here's how it goes:

1. Grab a pen and blank sheet. Simply sketch what comes to mind using only your non dominant hand. Love making wonky portraits this way.

2. Tape a paintbrush to the end of a stick to create a super long paintbrush. Slightly water down some paint, and stand far enough away from the canvas to extend your arm fully. You can freestyle or follow a picture- either way, the weight of the long brush will prevent you from being able to make a copy of any reference you have.

Accept the direction the piece takes. Kind of a metaphor for life.
